Will it never end?

I put my application into the University of North Texas about a week ago. Found out on Thursday that ACU had not sent my transcipt to them yet, so the application process was on hold. Faxed a transcript request to ACU and now I wait. I hate the wait. I have told myself that I will have peace no matter the circumstances or outcome of the situation... as I did before with UTD and the audiology program. And over all I do have peace, I just can't stand the waiting between now and then.

And to be quite honest, I'm afraid. My mind is dizzy with the "what ifs." Ug. This doesn't sound like it should be that big of a deal and in the grand scheme of things, it isn't. But in the mean time I wait. And waiting is never any fun.

Hey, as a recovered speech pathologist (and my wife is a recovered audiologist), I was tickled to read of your choice of profession. And we both did our graduate work at UTD.

Were you a ComDis major at ACU? If so, you should know that a) Dr. Ashby is my hero, and b) Dr. A and Dee were responsible for hooking my wife and me together.

Anyhoo, what program are you applying for at UNT?

Bee - they should realize we're wringing our hands! You'd think they'd hurry it up... I think they do get a thrill out of it, as Writer suggested.

Writer - target practice is always a good thing. :) I'm up for some soon.

Scott - Dr. Ashby is my hero also! He retired last year... its a shame, but he's been telling his wife he would for awhile. UTD's a great school and I could do audiology the rest of my life, I just don't care to. So much has changed recently... anyway, I was never one of Dee's favorites, but she is a great professor as well.

At UNT I'm applying for a bach. in Painting and Drawing w/ a minor in Photograhy. Eventually when finished with that, I'd like to go to UT Southwestern and get a grad degree in Medical Illustration. I'm stoked!

Scott - when did you and your wife graduate from ACU? And what did the two of you and up majoring in and doing grad work in?

Ram - we graduated in 91 with ComD degrees, then went to UTD (I went Speech, the wife went Aud). I went on to work on a Ph.D. in brain-language (discourse level linguistics), and then left the program when my professor moved. Besides, while I loved the academics of it all, I hated the applied therapy of SLP.

I plied my trade for about six years, much of time preaching and serving as a minister part-time.

My wife is working on a master's in education so that she can teach - so that's why I said we are both "recovering" ComD people.

And Dee tolerated me - that's about as truthful as I can put it.

I wish I could explain that to my mom, why I dislike the applied therapy of SP. Finally, someone with common ground. The decision for art school has taken my parents aback... but its something I've wanted to do all along. Didn't at ACU because there were professors who thought speech path had to be your #1 focus, so I never double majored or minored in art like I really wanted to. So, I'm in the "recovering" ComD Club as well. We'll call it RCDC for short. :)
